Memento 2025: word art festival

Memento is an annual word art festival in Kortrijk, where you are immersed in a language bath. Through performances, debates, workshops, author encounters, exhibitions, installations and reading sessions, the word arts show themselves in all their forms. The theme of 2025 is “cause and effect,” with a special focus on “time” within the youth program. Visitors are invited to discover which form of language has what effect on them, whether written, spoken, sung or other forms of expression.

This year there are three ambassadors who play an active role in the festival: Johannes Genard: frontman of the Belgian band School is Cool; Esohe Weyden: poet, presenter and poetry slammer; and Saskia De Coster: author of an idiosyncratic body of work.
